Please join us for a Happy Hour reception hosted with the American Council on Germany's speaker tour with Mr. Andreas Jahn. Mr Jahn will be presenting on the "Challenges for the German Mittelstand" followed by a happy hour reception at the Teutonia Maennerchor.

About the Speaker:

Andreas Jahn is a Member of the Federal Executive Board of Bundesverband mittelständische Wirtschaft (BVMW) – the German Association of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, joining the organization in 2019. He also serves as the Director of Government Affairs and Foreign Trade, Managing Director of BVMW International GmbH, and Secretary General of the Mittelstandsallianz Afrika.

The German Association of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses is the biggest voluntarily organized and cross-sectoral economic interest group for German SMEs. It is a politically independent association which caters to all commercial branches and professions and represents the interests of small and medium-sized businesses in politics, with administrative authorities, with trade unions and with major companies. Medium-sized businesses – around 3.3 million individual enterprises in all – are the backbone and impulse of the German economy.

Prior to working at the association, Mr. Jahn worked for ten years at the German Bundestag as a Senior Foreign Policy Advisor of Johannes Selle, Member of Parliament in the Committee of Economic Development. In that capacity, he observed Parliamentarian and Presidential Elections in many countries. Andreas Jahn was born in 1972 in Riesa, Germany. He studied Roman Philology (Spanish, French, Italian) at the university of Freiburg and of Reunion Island (Indian Ocean).
